Person Notes
Auntie Lil was clearly an intelligent woman and a skilled lawyer even though she never became a solicitor. It probably wasn't something women did in those days.
She was very active in the British Legion, the Conservative Club and Holywell Golf Club. She became a magistrate in 1953 and served in that role until just before her untimely death.
I can't ever remember meeting her which is strange because I would have been old enough to remember had I done so.

Person Notes
I went to Auntie Eileen’s house in Ruthin with my father after she died. I remember that clearly. He and another nephew, William Hughes (Auntie Wendy’s son), were beneficiaries of her estate. I remember he expressed some animosity towards William, I don’t remember why, but I can well imagine: My father would argue and fall out with anyone about anything at anytime, anywhere.
I remember there was the most fantastic view up a fell from the window of the house. One day I might find that hill and walk up it. There was a nest of tables in Auntie Eileen’s house, not antique or anything, but lovely. They ended up at my parent’s and now sit in our drawing room. I don’t remember her, but I have a link with her and think of her when I use or polish those tables.
She obviously died at a time I could remember, but I don't remember meeting her. Perhaps I never did. I wonder why, because it seems a shame.

Person Notes
I think Auntie Wray was a fun-loving woman with a wide social circle of friends.
Wray and her older sister Lil were both very clever women and solicitor’s clerks with their father's firm. Today, they would be lawyers in their own right, I’m sure.
Wray enjoyed amateur dramatics and was a member of the Holywell Players. As of 29 September 1939, Lizzie Wray Roberts was also known as Elizabeth Wray Kerfoot-Roberts.

Person Notes
In her latter years, Rose lived at Glenhaven, the Hotel, with her daughter Bettie. She was renowned for creatively disposing of food she didn't care for usually by throwing it out of the window. Below the window was a porch. Guests arriving at the hotel were welcomed by rice pudding dribbling down the roof!
