Nonagenarian’s Death
News has been received of the death of Mrs. Sarah Roberts, widow of the late Mr. Edward Roberts, Solicitor, in practice al Rhyl for many years. The deceased lady was, before her marriage, a Miss Kerfoot, a member of a family very well known in agricultural circles. Mr and Mrs Roberts resided many years at Towyn Hall, but on the death of her husband she removed to Rhyl, and afterwards to The Dell Melyd Avenue, Prestatyn, where she died on Sunday last, having attained the advanced age of 90 years. The internment has been arranged for today (Thursday) at Towyn Church where her husband was. churchwarden for several years. The late Mr Edward Roberts was remarkably well informed in all questions of law, especially provisions appertaining to shipping matters. He was engaged from time to time in several important actions, and that not unsuccessfully. It was he who discovered a flawin the Welsh Sunday Closing Act which was taken advantage. of by licensed victuallers, with the result that the operations of the Act were delayed by a whole Year. One of Mr and Mrs Roberts’ sons was killed in the Boer War, and another son is Mr Kerfoot Roberts, in practice as a solicitor at Holywell.
