Sentry, also spelt Centery, is a Farm in Mount Tabor on Moor Bottom close to the Wesleyan Chapel. Some of the Rothera family lived there in the 1790s. The escarpment which runs from the Western side of Mount Tabor southwards towards Newlands is called Sentry Edge and was quarried in the 19th century and probably long before. James Clegg and James Rothera were instumental in building the Wesleyan Chapel in Mount Tabor and donated much of the stone used to build it. It is possible, but only a working hypothesis, that Sentry Edge Quarries were those that were worked by James Clegg when he moved from Sowerby.
